Lilja Preloved: Closing the loop with our re-sale program
We teamed up with second hand pioneer Relove to find a solution for one of our long-term sustainability goals: elongating the lifecycle of each item and bringing a second hand selection of our swimwear available to our community.
We create our items to last, both use and the test of time. Sometimes items we purchase turn out to not be the perfect match for us, or just end up being worn less than we initially thought. In these situations, it is usually a good option to look into reselling the item onwards for it to become meaningful for another user. However, with swimwear being a hygiene product, reselling can be a tricky task.
This is why we wanted to create Lilja Preloved together with our partner Relove. Relove is a Finnish 2nd hand pioneer that you can find in Helsinki, Tampere and now also at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. We are be taking back your preloved Lilja the Label pieces and giving them a new chance via Relove or our own flagship right next door, at Fredrikinkatu 25. You can stay up to date on when and where the selection is available by following our newsletter and Instagram. The selection not only includes items from our community but also some of our production samples, prototypes, staff favourites and items worn in photoshoots.
Step 1:
Look into your closet
Got a Lilja the Label item that you no longer wear, that is still in good 2nd hand condition? Pass it on to a fellow swimwear lover!
Step 2:
Send the item(s) over
You can send the item over to us using the our Posti return code (671258) by dropping it off at Posti or bring it over to our store in Helsinki (Fredrikinkatu 25).
Step 3:
Evaluation and gift card
We receive your item, check it thoroughly and evaluate the item’s condition. You receive an electronic gift card in return according to your preloved item’s condition.
Step 4:
Find something new
Your item finds a new home within our community, and you find your new favourite swimwear with your Lilja the Label gift card!

Got a Lilja the Label item that you no longer wear in your wardrobe? This is the perfect opportunity to take part in Lilja Preloved! If your preloved Lilja the Label item is still in a good 2nd hand condition, we can find a new home for it. Read further!
You can send the preloved item(s) over to us either by using our Posti return code, or bringing it over to our store in Helsinki. Please note that you can only send back original Lilja the Label items. We will pay for the shipment of your preloved items.
Sending your items within Finland:
1. Pack your preloved items in a box, envelope or a bag of your choice. Please include your contact information (name and email) inside the package. We kindly ask you to pack your shipment as flat as possible.
2. Write our Posti return code 671258 and the address below on top of your package:

3. If your package is under 3 cm thick, you can drop it off into a yellow Posti mailbox as long as the return code is written on top. If it’s larger, drop it off at the counter in Posti with the code!
Not in Finland but would love to be a part of Lilja Preloved?
It is possible to also participate by sending preloved items from outside Finland by covering the shipping cost to Finland yourself. We are looking into building a network with couriers from other counties as well, but unfortunately at the moment the shipping cost is still the responsibility of the customer.
1. Pack your preloved Lilja the Label items as flat as possible in a packaging of your choice and include your name and email address inside the package. Send the package using the following address information:

2. Choose your preferred courier from your location to Finland. Send your preloved items on their way, and we will get back to you once we’ve received and processed your item(s)!

Once we receive your item, check it thoroughly and classify it into one of the three 2nd hand categories (listed below), we’ll get back to you with your gift card.
We will classify the preloved items into three different categories according to their condition. This determines the value of the gift card you will receive. You can read more about our three categories below.
We will send your Lilja the Label gift card in return for your preloved goodies via email as soon as we have received and checked your item.
Your preloved item(s) will find a new home with a fellow sustainable swimwear lover via our flagship store or Relove’s locations. You can stay up to date on when and where to find the selection to shop by following our socials.
You can use your gift card towards your next favourite piece at our online store or in-store in Helsinki.
Since swimwear is a hygiene product, we kindly ask for your cooperation to only send or bring in items that are still in good second hand condition and can be handed over to the next fellow sustainable swimwear lover. A good piece of advice is to send back items in a condition that you would feel comfortable buying 2nd hand.
We inspect, wash, mend and place new hygiene stickers on all preloved items that are returned to us before selling them back to our community. By buying a Lilja Preloved item, you can be sure that the item has been carefully checked and cared for before being displayed at the store and is safe and hygienic to buy – and has many more seasons of wear ahead!
A: Excellent condition
B: Good condition
C: Satisfactory condition
Items categorised as A-level are in excellent preloved condition. They may have been worn in photoshoots or be production samples. Alternatively, they can be items from our community in excellent condition.
Gift card: 20€/top or bottom, 40€/onepiece
Items categorised as B-level are in good preloved condition. They are items from our community that may have some signs of wear, but still have many years of use ahead of them.
Gift card: 15€/top or bottom, 30€/onepiece
Items categorised as C-level are in satisfying preloved condition. They may have some more signs of use or minor faults, but should still be given a second chance at life as trusted companions for summers to come.
Gift card: 10€/top of bottom, 20€/onepiece

Please note: All returned items will be checked thoroughly, washed and re-sealed with hygiene stickers prior to going on sale. By sending in your item(s) you agree to us valuing your item. Once we’ve received your item(s), we will get back to you shortly with our gift card. If you are not pleased with the gift card amount and instead wish to receive your item back, you are welcome to pick it up at our store in Helsinki or alternatively we can send it back over to you, but you will be responsible to cover the mailing costs back and forth in this situation.
